Children of the Watch: A Star Wars Aftershow
★★★★★

Should’ve reviewed years ago

At the time, I wasn’t a fan of the Star Wars franchise. So I knew I was missing A LOT of information as I was watching the first season of The Mandalorian. So I went looking for an aftershow podcast. Found this one and haven’t regretted it. I even recently subscribed to their Patreon! Their love for the franchise is infectious and they know pretty much everything, or are at least good at faking what they don’t know. ;)

It sounds like they successfully straddle the line of entertaining both newbies as well as seasoned veterans of the franchise. And they are so so welcoming, no fan shaming here. If there’s just one thing you love about Star Wars, then in their eyes you’re also a fan of Star Wars. I never considered myself a fan because while I watched all the movies, I never cared much for them. Until The Force Awakens, that was the first movie I watched where I went “Wow! I get the obsession!” But then I didn’t care for the last two episodes 8&9. But then I watched Star Wars Rebels and felt that WOW factor again and then again with Mandalorian. So I figured out, I do love Star Wars, I just don’t like Skywalkers. Which keeps getting reaffirmed as I watch and fall in love with shows like Book of Boba Fett and Bad Batch and Andor. I did enjoy Obi Wan, but got the most enjoyment from the episodes that didn’t have Vader. I’m fine with being an oddball fan!

So in short. Highly recommend this podcast if you’re in the market for a Star Wars aftershow or want to learn/relearn Star Wars history/trivia or just want to hear two guys (along with all their fans thanks to voicemail hotline) geek out.
